Black has served congregations from Florida to New York and Michigan. Over his sixty-five years in ministry. Working with hospice for five years as Director of Bereavement Care, serving with the State Attorney's office, part-time, with families of murdered victims, and working in general and rehabilitation hospitals for twenty years along the way, one could say that Black has "Been there, done that". He has obviously learned a great deal, including those he visits on death row.
He longs to share what life has taught him from the halls of great pain (some of his own making!) and offers this to you, in the hope he can add quality to your life, build up your hope, and let you know that there is a great 'route' you can be on with him into a much better future... both here as well as a 'hereafter', starting right now!
Black and his wife have three grown children, two adopted as infants. His wife, Virginia, is a professional musician and a master of both the pipe organ and the harp.
About the Author
Jim Black, author, is a graduate of Davidson College in N. C., Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Va., and Princeton Theological Seminary in New Jersey. Having four degrees (A.B., S.T.M., Th.M., and D. Min.), he jokes that he is 'dying by degrees'! He has completed post-graduate studies on conflict management at McCormick Seminary in Chicago and the University of North Florida in the area of research methodology.
His professional connections include being a Member of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, a Fellow in the College of Chaplains, and a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
